INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups All purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons Cardamon powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 3/4 cups Coconut milk
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 dashes Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Margarine
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add the dry ingredients and mix together.Add in margarine and mix until you get crumbs,add the coconut milk in batches as you knead the dough.
  2. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.Set the dough aside and let it rest for an hour.
  3. Divide the dough into four equal parts and flatten the balls out individually.Cut into strips,then into diamond shapes.
  4. In a pan heat oil ,fry the mitais until golden brown on both sides.
  5. In a sauce pan add sugar,water,cardamon and stir until everything is dissolved,simmer.Add the mitai to the syrup and toss until all are covered with the syrup.While on heat until it becomes dry and powdery.
